A truck caused temporary traffic delays in Northern Westchester when it found itself on a parkway not quite meant for it and slammed into a bridge. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, July 19, when a 13-foot-tall tractor-trailer traveling on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Pleasantville slammed into an 8-foot 8-inch tall bridge at Bedford Road, according to Westchester County Police. Road Rage: Man Threatens Driver With Handgun In Northern Westchester Incident, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was nabbed for alleged road rage after allegedly pulling a gun on another driver he had been tailgating. The incident took place in Northern Westchester on Monday, Aug. 1 in Pleasantville, near Bedford Road and Cooley Street. According to Chief Erik Grutzner, of the Pleasantville Police, the two drivers had gotten in a "tiff" over a parking space and the incident continued when both cars were on the road. Restaurant Group Closes One Of Its Northern Westchester Locations
A Westchester restaurant group has announced the closure of one of its locations. Pleasantville's 105 Seventy Bar & Grill, located on Bedford Road, is closed, 105 Restaurant Group Director of Operations Brian Angarola confirmed. The eatery was previously named Mission Taqueria. The restaurant opened in May of 2018. Owners said the restaurant's menu was a fusion of Mexican and American cuisine. Hollywood has come to the Hudson Valley once again with big stars in the area to film a new HBO series, the "Time Traveler's Wife." Village of Pleasantville officials said the production is filming on Wednesday, June 2 on Wheeler Avenue and Broadway during the day. Village officials said during the filming, Wheeler Avenue will be closed from Manville Road to the Bedford Road parking lot exit until around noon. Fire Destroys Century-Plus Old Home In Northern Westchester
A Northern Westchester home built in the 1890s was destroyed overnight when a massive fire broke out, officials said. First responders from multiple agencies responded to a home on Bedford Road at 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in Pleasantville, when a fire was discovered by a New Castle Fire Marshal who was passing by in the area. Off-Duty Police Officer Admits To Putting Woman In Chokehold In Westchester
A 28-year-old police officer was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge after pleading guilty to harassment for putting a woman in a chokehold while off duty last year in Northern Westchester. In addition to harassment, Trevor Goff of Yonkers also pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of breathing in connection with the June 16, 2017, episode in Pleasantville, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Two new restaurants are set to open in Pleasantville in March. The owners of Wood & Fire plan to open Southern Table at 39 Marble Ave. in March. The new grill will offer traditional favorites from the South. In addition to fried chicken, homemade biscuits and pork-belly-topped grits, expect many creative dishes, according to owner Michael Ferrara. Firefighters Hold Memorial For Pleasantville Stabbing Victim
Twenty-two years ago, the body of a Pleasantville firefighter was found after a blizzard. Family members of the 50-year-old Tom Dorr were suspects interviewed by police, but no one was charged. Fellow volunteer firefighters, co-workers and friends of Dorr, who worked for the White Plains Water Department, plan their an annual vigil on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant park where Dorr was slain.
