Hudson Valley Man Admits 'Straw Purchasing' Guns, US Attorney Says
A Hudson Valley man pled guilty to conspiring with others to unlawfully obtain firearms from a licensed dealer by allegedly making false statements, also known as “straw purchasing” firearms.
Ulster County resident Oryin McLeod, age 23, of Kingston, admitted on Wednesday, Feb. 14, that he entered into an agreement with Rylan Peterson, a native of Kingston then serving in the Marine Corps at a base in North Carolina, for Peterson to acquire six semi-automatic handguns on behalf of McLeod and others, according to US Attorney for the Northern District of New York Carla Freeman.

Temple Shooting: 28-Year-Old Federally Charged After Gunshots At NY Synagogue
The man accused of opening fire at a New York synagogue on the first day of Hanukkah has been federally charged.
Mufid Fawaz Alkhader, age 28, of Schenectady, appeared in Albany federal court on Friday, Dec. 8, where he was arraigned on one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
According to the criminal complaint, Alkhader approached Albany’s Temple Israel, located on New Scotland Avenue, at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.
He then fired the weapon twice into the air, prosecutors allege.

ID Released For Store Manager Shot, Killed By Worker At NY Stop & Shop
The identity has been released for the store manager killed by a worker in a shooting that injured two others at a supermarket on Long Island.
The suspect, Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, age 31, of Hempstead, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, April 21, just 24 hours after the incident took place at the Stop & Shop in West Hempstead on Tuesday, April 20.
Wilson was apprehended within four hours of the shooting following a massive manhunt that included more than 150 officers, the FBI, the ATF, and the NYPD, said Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

Man Busted For Drugs, Gun Possession Following Raid In Area
A 36-year-old man was arrested following a raid on his home in which officers allegedly found a gun, drugs, and cash.
Jason Hood, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested early Tuesday, Dec. 10, when members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Emergency Services Unit, and the ATF executed a search warrant at his Maple Street home, said Sgt. Terrence Beam.
The search warrant was executed after an investigation into the sales of controlled substances from that location, he added.

Man Nabbed With Fully Automatic Submachine Gun, Police Say
A 22-year-old local man was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon following an investigation into an earlier incident in which a submachine gun was seized.
According to the City of Poughkeepsie Police, on Thursday, July 10, members of the police department responded to 13 Duane St, for a dispute, and report of a person in possession of a gun, City of Poughkeepsie Police Sgt. Terrence Beam said.
