2 Hospitalized After Fast-Moving Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Westchester: Developing Authorities are warning commuters to stay away from an area in Westchester County because of an active apartment fire.  The fast-moving blaze erupted on Thursday evening, Jan. 19 in Yonkers at an apartment building on Mulberry Street, according to an announcement by Yonkers Police from around 5:20 p.m. Because of the fire, police are advising drivers to stay away from Ashburton Avenue between Yonkers Avenue and North Broadway to avoid heavy traffic. Police Cruiser Hits Woman In Westchester County A police cruiser accidentally hit a woman in Westchester County, police said.  On Wednesday evening, Nov. 30, police in Yonkers were on their way to back up other officers calling for help when one of their police cars struck the woman at the intersection of Ashburton Avenue and Palisade Avenue, according to Yonkers Police Department Detective Lt. Man Sentenced For Shooting, Killing Private Carting Worker From Northern Westchester A 33-year old man has been sentenced to time behind bars after admitting to murdering a truck driver from Northern Westchester last year. Yonkers resident Heriberto Morales has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering Timothy Conkling, a driver for a private carting company who was stepping out of his truck when he was shot in March 2018. In April, Morales pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. Man Charged With Shooting, Killing Worker From Northern Westchester An area man has been charged in the March murder of a trash-carting driver. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Friday that 32-year-old Heriberto Morales of Yonkers has been charged by a grand jury in a seven-count indictment that was released this week. He stands charged of murdering a Northern Westchester man who was working for a private carting company at the time of his death.
