The event featured a five kilometer race, a one mile walk and a half-mile fun run for kids.
Seventeen-year-old Zach Nordstorm of Patterson won first place in the men’s division with a time of 19:20. Open Door Medical Center Team member Lori-Beth Patsey of Fishkill topped the women's division and placed sixth overall with 22:43.
Carmel's Tyler McMath, 17, and his 15-year-old brother Dorian finished second and fifth among the men respectively. Their mother, Jessica, finished fifth in her age category.
Sandor Kozma, 12, finished in in eighth place overall, followed by his 13-year-old sister, Jessica, in ninth place. Both finished first in their age groups. The elder Sandor Kozma won second place in his age category.
A fall from a ladder left Andrew Olang paralyzed. Olang completed the 5K course in a wheelchair along with eleven family members as Team Andrew while more friends and family cheered their support.
“Involving friends and family in your exercise routines is the main idea behind this event,” said Dr. Allen Beals, Putnam County health commissioner. “Most everyone knows that exercise is a key component to good health. The challenge is to find the time. By doing it with family and friends, it’s at once easier to schedule in a busy day, and the bonus is it’s much more enjoyable."
