South, which won the section last season, lost a good part of its lineup, and in this one it was a hard-hitting John Jay team that cruised to a 15-0 victory.

Ally Muller struck out 13 and earned the win for the Patriots, now 6-0.

Sara Ferrara took the loss for South, which fell to 2-5.
