Putnam Valley School Board Seeks Audit Committee Members

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. - The Putnam Valley Central School District's Board of Education is seeking members for its Audit Committee.

The committee is mandated by New York State Education Department law/regulations and its role is to assist the Board of Education in the oversight of both the internal and external audit functions.

The statutory responsibilities of the committee are as follows:

  • Provide recommendations on the appointment of the external auditor and the internal auditor.
  • Review and discuss the internal auditor's risk assessment of the district's fiscal operations and the internal audit plan.
  • Monitor implementation of the internal auditor's recommendations.
  • Receive and review the external auditor's draft audit report and management letter.
  • Provide recommendations to the board regarding acceptance of the external audit report and comments on the District's response to the management letter.
