Ball was just one of many state politicians the Moreland Commission had targeted before Gov. Andrew Cuomo shuttered the commission in a budget deal in March, The New York Times reported.
As a result of Cuomo's shutting down of the commission, the political climate in Albany and throughout New York has not changed very much, The New York Times said.
A lawyer for Ball, Joseph Tacopina, said Ball's accounting left much to be desired, but that Ball had done nothing wrong and would not face charges, the Times reported.
