"Mr. Cuomo seems to be making policies up as he goes along, almost on a whim, and that's the worst possible thing a government figurehead can do," Astorino said in a statement. "We need a steady hand at the tiller right now; not a governor acting haphazardly. New York has had a month's notice that Ebola was on its way; there is no excuse for this state to be unprepared."

Astorino is critical of the way Cuomo has shifted both position and policy on the way the state should handle quarantining travelers coming from Ebola hot spots in West Africa.

Astorino has advocated for a travel ban to all passengers coming from the three key Ebola stricken nations until a foolproof quarantine protocol is put into place.

"A strict, humanitarian and fully considered quarantine policy is needed to best ensure the safety of New Yorkers,"  Astorino said in a statement. "Throwing a health care hero into a tent without forethought or preparation is not responsible public policy."
