Traffic Stop Leads To DWI Charge For Woman In Patterson

A traffic stop in Patterson led to DWI charges for a woman from New Fairfield, police say.

Officers from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department say they observed a driver commit a series of traffic violations on Fairfield Drive and Haviland Drive in the Town of Patterson on Wednesday, May 8 around 1 a.m.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop and observed that the driver, identified as 38-year-old Mellisa Gorgilone of New Fairfield, was intoxicated.

Gorgilone was arrested and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where she was charged with:

Aggravated driving while intoxicated
Having a BAC of .18 or more, a misdemeanor
Operating a motor vehicle having a BAC of .08 or more, a misdemeanor
Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor

Gorgilone was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Patterson Justice Court at a future date.
