Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to investigate an auto crash shortly before 1:30 a.m. on June 26 on Route 22 near Argonne Road, where there were reports of a car that had gone off the roadway.
According to police, during the subsequent investigation, it was determined that 33-year-old Pawling resident Rory Agustin-Martinez was allegedly driving while intoxicated when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the cub.
Agustin-Martinez was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated, which the Sheriff’s Office noted could be punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. He was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000, which was later posted. He is due back in court later this year.
