Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat stopped a speeding motorist on Route 9D in Philipstown about 4 p.m. Aug. 30. The deputy determined that the driver, Victor L. Nikaj, 53, of 367 Lake Shore Drive, Putnam Valley, held a suspended license, authorities said.

The deputy arrested Nikaj and charged him with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the scene and released in his own recognizance pending a September 30, 2015 appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
