A member of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol Division was tipped off on Oct. 9 to a Garrison resident in the area of Philipstown, who was allegedly in possession of a potentially illegal weapon. Their investigation led them to 48-year-old Route 9 resident Brian Reigniger.
On Oct. 12, members of the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit were able to obtain a search warrant for Reiniger’s home and vehicle.
While executing the search warrant, investigators recovered a .357 Sig pistol, three magazines, additional ammunition, and cocaine. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. noted that Reiniger does not possess a valid pistol permit and is additionally barred from possessing the weapon, due to his criminal history.
Reigniger was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unsafe storage of a firearm.
Following his arraignment, Reigniger was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.
