According to state police, last week, Wappingers Falls resident Daniel Jarosch, 31, met a man at the Bryant Pond Mobil Station near the Mahopac Falls-Putnam Valley town line to sell a “Samsung Edge cell phone” that had been advertised online.

After the buyer paid for the phone, he opened the box to find that it contained only batteries and no phone, while Jarosch drove off. According to a report, the purchaser jumped into his car and followed Jarosch onto the northbound Taconic State Parkway, where he eventually forced Jarosch to pull over and a fight ensued. No charges were reportedly filed against the second man, who has not been identified.

Jarosch was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of petit larceny. He was issued a ticket and is due back in Putnam Valley Court on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
