On Tuesday, March 7, New York State Police troopers were dispatched to a business in Southeast to conduct a larceny investigation when workers reported that an Apple laptop had been taken.
The subsequent investigation determined that 32-year-old Brewster resident Joshua Hoffman, who works as a part-time United States Postal Service employee, entered the business and stole the laptop from the reception area, police said.
Hoffman was arrested on Thursday, March 16 and charged with a count of felony fourth-degree grand larceny and official misconduct, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned at the Town of Southeast Justice Court by Judge Richard Vercollone and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $5,000 bond. Hoffman is due back in court later this year.
