One Killed, Two Seriously Injured In Route 22 Crash In Putnam

One person was killed and two seriously injured during a head-on car crash on Route 22 in Putnam County around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith.

Route 22 is closed from Milltown Road and Lakeview Plaza due to a head-on crash.

The crash occurred when a northbound vehicle and a southbound vehicle collided just north of the Milltown Road intersection in Brewster, said Capt. William McNamara.

The male driver of the northbound vehicle was killed in the crash. The female driver and the male passenger of the southbound car were transported by ambulances to Danbury Hospital with unknown injuries, said McNamara.

The identities of the crash victims were not immediately available.

Route 22 is still closed from Milltown Road to Lakeview Plaza, as the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the New York State Police, investigate the crash.
