Corey Policastro, 21, was stopped by sheriffs after committing the violation on Bryant Pond Road, and the subsequent investigation turned up drugs in Policastro's possession.
Policastro was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and released. He is due in Putnam Valley Justice Court on Oct. 29 to answer to the charges.
He faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 if found guilty.
