Nathan R. Shook, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 11:40 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10,  after police discovered he had entered and remained in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the Town of Poughkeepsie, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Michael O’Dowd.

When officers arrived on the scene, Shook refused to answer the door in an attempt to avoid arrest, O'Dowd said.

Once inside, officers found Shook hiding in a closet, in violation of a stay-away order of protection, he added.

Shook was charged with felony burglary, criminal attempt, and obstructing governmental administration.

He is being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.

Shook is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 14.
