At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, Deputy Sheriff Eric Hayes was patrolling along Route 6 near Baldwin Lane in Mahopac when he stopped 59-year-old Brian Gallagher, who was reportedly driving erratically near his home.
During the subsequent stop, Hayes said that he was able to determine that Gallagher was allegedly in an intoxicated condition. Gallagher was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and cited for various traffic infractions related to the alleged erratic operation of his vehicle.
Gallagher was processed at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and was later released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Town of Carmel Justice Court on Monday, March 27. According to police, if found guilty of the DWI charge, Gallagher could face up to a year in jail, a fine of up to $1,000 and sanctions against his driving privileges.
