Connecticut Man Charged With DWI In Southeast

CARMEL, N.Y. -- A Putnam County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a 31-year-old resident of Danbury, Conn., Monday, April 18, on a DWI charge, following an auto accident in Southeast.

A deputy responded to a 911 report of an auto accident with property damage on Turk Hill Road in the Town of Southeast at 4:28 a.m., police report.

The vehicle had struck a utility pole, according to officials.

The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were not injured, but the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Luis A. Rodriguez, 31, was intoxicated, police report.

The deputy arrested Rodriguez and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, officials report.

The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment, according to the sheriff's office.
