Zimmermann started his own plumbing business in Peekskill. He was also the owner of Heidi's Brauhaus in Mahopac along with his wife Kathy and family for 36 years. He was a member of Elks Lodge 744 in Peekskill and the German American Club in Putnam Valley.
Zimmermann is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, David (Michelle), Rolf (Gigi) and Heidi (Daniel); eight grandchildren; and a nephew, Emmeram.
Calling hours are Sunday, June 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home where Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m. Interment of his cremains will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
Memorial donations may be made in Zimmermann's name to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Northern Westchester and Putnam.
