Eckwerth was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Mount Vernon. He was retired from Metro-North Railroad, where he had worked for 36 years.
Eckwerth is survived by his wife, Anna "Nina" Eckwerth; daughters, Tina, Dawn (Joseph), Jennifer and Marianna, all of Mahopac; and brother, William, of Beacon.
Calling hours are Wednesday, July 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac. Private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eckwerth’s memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
