Volunteer Accused Of Stealing From Putnam Church

PATTERSON, N.Y. – A woman was arrested Wednesday for stealing from a church where she volunteers, according to New York State Police.

Denise Pimentel, 42, of New Fairfield, Conn., was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree after an investigation revealed she took $1,023 in cash from the Sacred Heart Church in the Hamlet of Putnam Lake. The money came from the previous weekend’s donations from parishioners.

Pimentel was arraigned at the Town of Patterson Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond. She is due back in court Thursday, Sept. 17.
