PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for Saturday until 9 p.m. in Putnam County.
The watch was issued at 1:25 p.m. by the National Weather Service.
There could be heavy rainfall and frequent lightning that potentially leads to damaging wind gusts and urban flooding, the weather service warns.
The storms are expected to arrive mainly after 3 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms are likely between 8 p.m. and midnight.
Patchy fog is expected before 9 a.m. on Sunday.
