Bob Gentile, a Patterson resident who is executive director at nearby Camp Herrlich, was among them.

“I thought it was very well done,” he said. “I thought it was very comprehensive and I thought it was very clear to understand.”

The proposed budget, presented by Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, calls for spending $145.4 million and staying with the tax levy cap. It also includes funding for more sheriff's department personnel and more funding for local organizations and libraries.

Brewster resident Jack Gress, who owns a senior retirement community in Brewster, spoke favorably about Odell and the budget. He said that she has been reducing taxes, cutting expenses and saving money.
