Putnam Is Lone County In Lower Hudson Valley Without Methadone Clinic

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Despite a growing heroin problem, Putnam County remains the only county in the lower Hudson Valley without a methadone clinic, according to LoHud.com.

Methadone, a treatment often used to help ween addicts off of heroin, is employed throughout several clinics in the lower Hudson Valley, including four in neighboring Westchester, LoHud.com reported.

While doctors within Putnam County have the ability to prescribe Suboxone, these measures are often out of reach for addicts seeking help, LoHud.com said.
