The carnival, held by the firehouse, got under way Thursday, July 24 with fireworks to be held on the final night.

James Lowe, an EMT with the fire department, said the carnival is the fire department's only fundraiser and its only membership drive. He said it's a way of giving back to the community.

A parade is scheduled for Friday evening at 7 p.m. It will be going east on Route 311 to Burdick Road, according to Joseph Nickischer, who is an assistant chief with the fire department.
