Opt-Out Fallout Feared With Math Tests Looming

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- With the second week of state standardized testing underway, concerns and fears about how high opt out rates will impact state and federal funding are continuing to rise, according to the Albany Times Union.

One advocacy group states approximately 175,000 students opted out of testing last week and while the State lacks precise numbers, they are continuing to emphasize that less than 95 percent participation will make it difficult to show progress, the Times Union reported. 

Students are supposed to take the math portion of the standardized tests starting on Wednesday, the Times Union said.
