Dominique Gomez, 27, was found guilty on charges that include predatory sexual assault (a Class A-II felony), first-degree criminal sex act, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary (all Class B felonies), second-degree strangulation (a Class D felony) and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
After being found guilty of all charges by a 12-person jury, Gomez was sentenced to a term of 25 years to life in prison.
Gomez was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 31 by state police investigators after entering a woman’s home on Dec. 23 and demanding money. During the incident, the woman suffered a broken back, needed emergency surgery, and was sexually assaulted by Gomez in front of her child.
Gomez has previously spent time in prison after being sentenced to five years in prison following a conviction of two counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree attempted robbery and one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
