Man Is Shot By Fellow Hunter After Killing Deer Near Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Dutchess County man was shot by a fellow hunter while he was attempting to move a dead deer from the woods on Saturday, Nov. 15, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The shooter saw the deer moving and thought it was alive. The victim was taken to Danbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his hand and buttocks, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported. 

Regular hunting season opened on Saturday at sunrise and runs through Dec. 7.
