Mahopac Residents Ask County To Hold Off On Hill Street Cell Tower Site

MAHOPAC, N. Y. -- A group of Mahopac residents told Carmel town officials to work with Putnam County leaders to find a better location for the proposed 180-foot cell tower instead of county-owned property on Hill Street, The Examiner News reports.

Mahopac residents told Carmel town officials that a proposed cell tower, similar to what's pictured, on Hill Street in Mahopac would be too close to homes, The Examiner News says.

County officials are working with Homeland Towers to install new cell towers throughout the county to improve communication, especially for first responders. The Hill Street location is one of several being considered for towers, The Examiner News says.

Town officials say there are dead zones that need to be addressed with new towers, but Mahopac residents are concerned about the proximity of the Hill Street site to the nearby neighborhood. While many officials said a cell tower at that location is needed, residents called for an environmental review of the project.
