By Monday evening, the National Weather Service had issued a hazardous weather outlook for Putnam, as well as other parts of New York and sections of New Jersey and Connecticut that extended through the week.
Localized heavy rains were expected Tuesday night into Wednesday with the potential for some flooding, the weather service said.
Later in the week, a second bout of heavy rains possibly associated with Joaquin also may strike the area, again bringing the possibility of flooding.
