Green Chimneys, which serves special needs children, was the recipient of the Community Impact Award, while Patterson-based Fryer Machine Systems was this year's Business Leadership Award recipient.
"Our Business Leadership Award celebrates the successful implementation of innovative, economically promising projects in a community or region that are completed or planned to be completed within the next six months,” said Meghan Taylor, the Putnam EDC's president.
Accepting the award was Lawrence Fryer, the company's president. He called it "quite an honor" and noted that the support received was "outstanding."
Accepting the Community Impact Award on behalf of Green Chimneys was Angelo Matra, the organization's associate executive director.
Matra said he was "thankful," and he described the organization's employees as being "very thankful."
In her remarks, Taylor described an expansion plan for Green Chimneys' Brewster Campus. More information about the plan is available on Daily Voice here.
The breakfast, held at Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac, also included a keynote address from former Gov. George Pataki. Coverage of his address is available here.
