Firefighters Battle Three-Alarm Blaze At Farm Building In Southeast

The farm is located off of North Salem Road.

Firefighters involved, either on site or near by, came from Brewster, Croton Falls, Lake Carmel, Ridgefield, Mahopac, Somers and Putnam Lake.

A TransCare ambulance was observed at the scene and the Putnam County Sheriff's Department was limiting vehicular traffic on the main adjacent road. Smoke was seen billowing from multiple sides of the building. There is also a strong smell from the blaze.

Brewster Fire Chief Thomas Leather, who gave a recap of the response to reporters, said that his fire department was dispatched at 11:08 a.m. for what was initially reported to be a smoke investigation. The incident was later re-dispatched as a structure fire.

The building did not contain livestock and there were no injuries, Leather told reporters, adding that it used as the farm's repair shop. Leather said that the cause of the fire under investigation.

A vehicle, also severely damaged, could be seen inside the building.
