Edward Flores, 20, was a passenger on Middlebush Road when a trooper stopped the driver for an inadequate headlamp on Friday, Feb. 6, police said.

The trooper said he detected the odor of marijuana during the traffic stop, which led to a search and the alleged discovery of 1.2 grams of psychedelic mushrooms and a small amount of marijuana, according to police.

Flores and the driver of the vehicle, Laurel R. Meyer, 19, of Katonah, were both cited for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Flores was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, in connection with the alleged mushrooms on his person, police said.

Flores was released on his own recognizance.

Both Flores and Meyer are scheduled to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on Feb. 25.
