Carmel Town Board Cancels Proposed Sign-Code Changes

CARMEL, N.Y. – Proposed changes to zoning codes regarding commercial signs in Carmel have been canceled after business owners attended a public hearing Feb. 25 at Carmel Town Hall and voiced their concerns about the changes, reports Mahopac News.

If approved, the changes would have affected signs along Route 6 and the Mahopac and Carmel business districts. The amendments would have prohibited neon, LED and backlit signs; A-frame sandwich board signs; and would have limited window ads/displays to 10 percent of the total square footage of the window according to the report.
