And with Sauro's, it's a two-way street. The popular cafe and deli - run by brothers Lenny and Steve Sauro, also makes a point of giving back to the community on a regular basis.
Sauro's Gourmet Deli & Catering has been around for 20 years, while the cafe/restaurant just opened two years ago, and the brothers said the support from the community has been great.
So the brothers make sure they give something back. Every month the they donate a portion of proceeds from every pizza sold to a charity.
"We decided that since we've been here, the community has been great to us, so we wanted to give something back," Lenny Sauro told Daily Voice. "We stay with area charities, and it averages out to about a $1,000.00 a month."
Charities the business regularly support include the American Cancer Society, the Lymphoma Society, No Kid Hungry and PARC.
Sauro's cafe serves up a wide variety of pizzas, as well as Italian food, seafood and offers a full menu. And the deli has everything you'd expect to find at a great local deli.
Why do people love the place?
"I think our place has a homey atmosphere," Sauro said. "Everything is fresh and home made, and you get to know people in the community... we feel so fortunate to have built so many relationships with the community."
Sauro's Town Square Pizza Cafe is located at 1072 Rt. 311 in Patterson. For more info check out their web site: www.townsquarepizzacafe.com or their Facebook page.
