Cargo Truck Hits, Kills 44-Year-Old Man In Baldwin
A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island. The incident happened in Baldwin, on Coes Neck Road, at around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Nassau County Police said a cargo truck was driving near the intersection of Notre Dame Court when it swerved to avoid a car backing into the roadway and struck a 44-year-old man walking on the shoulder. The victim suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police medic, according to police. His identity had not been publicized as of Friday evening. Dealer's Fentanyl Killed 17-Year-Old Garden City Girl, DA Says
An admitted drug dealer was formally charged in connection with the overdose death of a 17-year-old Long Island girl. Daquan Booker, age 34, of Smithtown, was arraigned on multiple drug charges in Nassau County Court on Tuesday, Oct. 15, following the death of Garden City High School senior Grace Wrightington. Prosecutors said Booker met with the teen on at least two occasions in July 2023 and sold her purported oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl. Hit-Run Driver Sought After 19-Year-Old Critically Injured On Sunrise Highway In Freeport
A month after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island highway, the suspect is still at large. The incident happened on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 14. Nassau County Police said the victim was crossing Sunrise Highway near the intersection of Bayview Avenue when a dark colored SUV traveling northbound struck him. A Long Island man who was previously accused of exposing himself to a young girl is now charged with possessing child pornography. Jhonatan Fuentes, age 29, of East Meadow, was arrested Friday, Oct. 11, after an investigation revealed he was in possession of child pornography, Nassau County Police said. An alleged porch pirate is accused of nearly a dozen larcenies on Long Island. Police apprehended the man in connection to four larcenies that occurred on September 10, in the village Garden City. Supermarket chain King Kullen is set to close its Levittown store after 30 years in business, an employee confirmed to Daily Voice. The store will close for good at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.
