Woman, Baby Killed In Boat Crash Off Liberty Island
A 46-year-old Manhattan man has been charged after a boat overturned near Liberty Island, killing a 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old baby, authorities said.
Manuel Hernandez was arrested at 2:27 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, within the NYPD's 72nd Precinct, and charged with 13 counts of reckless endangerment, an NYPD spokesperson said.
The incident began around 10:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, when police received a 911 call reporting an overturned vessel near Liberty Island within the 1st Precinct, authorities said.

A multi-day manhunt for a man accused of killing his 70-year-old father and setting his Orange County home on fire ended after tips from the public led New York State Police to him, authorities said.
Thomas D. Ryan, 32, was taken into custody at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, following a coordinated search in Schoharie County, State Police said. 15-Year-Old Boy Missing For Days From Long Island Home: Police
A 15-year-old boy has been reported missing after leaving his Long Island home, police announced on Friday, Aug. 7.
Mathew Valentin, 15, was last seen leaving his residence at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to the Nassau County Missing Persons Squad. His disappearance was reported to police at 2:50 p.m. Friday.
Valentin is described as 5-foot-2 and approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black sweatshirt, and gray slides, detectives said.
