Steven McDonald, 63, of Coram, was in the roadway of eastbound Sunrise Highway, between exits 48 and 49, when he was hit by a 2011 BMW 550 driven by Wayne Griffith, 60, of Medford, at 9:25 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, police said. A Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train struck and killed a pedestrian late Saturday night, Dec. 28 near the Mastic Shirley station, an MTA spokesperson confirmed. The incident happened at approximately 11:10 p.m. between the William Floyd Parkway crossing and the station. Both MTA and local police were dispatched to the scene.
