Former Iona University Basketball Player Chosen To Star On New Season Of 'The Bachelor' ABC's "The Bachelor" franchise has announced its next star. His name is Grant Ellis, and he's a 30-year-old day trader with New Jersey and New York roots. The Houston, Texas resident initially competed on this season of "The Bachelorette" starring Jenn Tran, who grew up in Bergen County. Ellis was eliminated just before Tran picked her final four. Ellis is a Newark native who played basketball for Hudson Catholic, and later at the collegiate level in New York for Iona University in New Rochelle, where he played guard and forward. Breeze Airways Adding Nonstop Service From Westchester County Airport To This Sunny Destination You’ll soon have more options when it comes to booking that Florida vacation. Breeze Airways is expanding its service from New York and Connecticut to the Sunshine State, the airline announced Wednesday, Aug. 7. Starting this fall, customers can book nonstop flights from both Westchester County Airport and Long Island MacArthur Airport to Sarasota, Florida. The airline is also adding nonstop service from Westchester to Daytona Beach, Florida. Duo Nabbed In Jewelry Store Burglaries Targeting Hudson Valley Businesses Two suspects are behind bars in connection with a string of jewelry store burglaries that targeted businesses in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. In Dutchess County, police were called at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, for a burglary in progress in Beacon at Sky Diamond Jewelers on Main Street. As officers arrived, the suspects were seen driving away from the scene.  Officers initially pursued the vehicle onto the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge but called off the chase “due to the unsafe speeds,” Beacon Police said.
