Man Sentenced For Hammer Attack Of Hudson Valley Teen A Hudson Valley man who beat a teen in the head with a sharp hammer has been sentenced to prison. Orange County resident Shawn Beach, age 43, of Port Jervis was sentenced on Tuesday, Oct. 3 to 30 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for the Dec. 2022 crime. Beach, who was convicted in July by a jury, had a prior violent felony conviction from 2003, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. Worker Critical After 40-Foot Fall Through Skylight At Hudson Valley School A construction worker is in critical condition after falling some 40 feet through a skylight at a Hudson Valley middle school. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2 at the Union Vale Middle School in Lagrangeville.  According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the man was working on the skylight when he fell.
