26-Year-Old Drowns In Lake In Region While Out With Family A 26-year-old Capital Region man was pulled from a lake over the weekend after he drowned while out with his family, authorities said.  Police in Rensselaer County were called to Poestenkill Gorge Park on Linden Avenue in Troy just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1. A Troy man had gone into the water and not resurfaced.  Bystanders pulled him out, but it was too late. Person Flips Canoe, Then Pulled From Water In Dramatic Hudson Valley Rescue A person was rescued from the water after they were found clinging to a kayak in a Hudson Valley pond. The rescue happened in Putnam County at around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, when a forest ranger with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation saw a person in the water while patrolling White Pond in the town of Kent.  According to the DEC, the person had rolled their canoe and could not flip it back over. Lost Hikers In State Forest In Mamakating Rescued By Ranger Forest Rangers rescued five hikers lost and suffering from heat exhaustion and lack of water on a trailhead at a state forest in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at Roosa Gap State Forest in the town of Mamakating around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. ID Released For Boy, 8, Who Died After Boat Carrying Eight Flipped Over In Area An 8-year-old boy who drowned after being underwater for some time when a boat carrying seven children and one adult flipped over in Haverstraw Bay has been identified. Yosef Goldman, of Israel, died around 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, after becoming trapped under the boat which flipped about 100 feet off of Haverstraw Bay, said the Rockland County Sheriff's Office.
