Henri: Here's How Many Hudson Valley Residents Are Now Without Power
Utility crews in the Hudson Valley are working around the clock to repair thousands of power outages overnight as hundreds remain without electricity following the impact of Tropical Storm Henri. As of late Monday morning, Aug. 23, crews are working to restore power to more than 1,000 Hudson Valley utility customers who were still left in the dark due to the storm. Central Hudson was reporting 35 active outages, which were impacting 810 customers, the bulk of which (670) were in Ulster County. With a sustained wind strength of 60 miles per hour, Tropical Storm Henri made landfall early Sunday afternoon, Aug. 22. Landfall happened at around 12:45 p.m. Sunday in Westerly, Rhode Island, which is located on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, about 12 miles east of Mystic Seaport, in New London County, Connecticut. New York is getting ready for Tropical Storm Henri, with coastal areas, especially eastern Long Island, the most likely to feel its impact. In one of his final acts in office, New York Gov.
