Large Tree Falls On Wires, Sparks Blaze In Hudson Valley
Part of a busy Hudson Valley road is closed after a large tree fell across it, striking power lines in the process. The stretch of Bucks Hollow Road between Astor Drive and Route 6 in the Putnam County town of Carmel is currently impassable thanks to a fallen tree, the Carmel Highway Department announced on Friday, Aug. 9 just before 4:30 p.m. The tree sparked a fire after it fell on power lines, as shown in photos of the incident released by the department. Driver Injured After Car Overturns On Hudson Valley Roadway
A driver was hospitalized following a rollover crash on a busy Hudson Valley road. The crash happened in Putnam County on Monday afternoon, July 22, when an Acura flipped on Milltown Road in the village of Brewster near the Connecticut border, according to the Brewster Fire Department. Arriving first responders found the driver trapped inside the vehicle and were able to free her before taking her to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash closed Milltown Road on Monday as the scene was cleared, the department said.

A large section of Interstate I-87/I-28, including the new Tappan Zee Bridge, will be closed in order to make repairs to a bridge overpass that is severely damaged. A long section of a major US route in Northern Westchester will soon close for a little more than a week, leaving travelers with no option but to take a detour. Beginning on Thursday, March 16, the section of US Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) between State Route 9D and US Route 9 in Cortlandt will close on weekdays in both directions between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Large House Fire Closes Roadway, Causes Detours In Rockland County
A large house fire in Rockland County has closed a roadway and is causing detours for motorists. The fire started a short time before 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at 418 Christian Herald Road, in Valley Cottage, said the Clarkstown Police. Multiple police, fire, and EMS are on the scene. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area due to the road closure which includes Christian Herald Road in the area of Storms Road and Rt 9W. Fatal Crash Causes Hours-Long Closure On Taconic Parkway
This story has been updated. A stretch of the Taconic State Parkway was closed throughout the morning commute following a fatal crash. The closure was southbound in Hopewell Junction between Route 29/Carpenter Road and Route 52. The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, but the lanes remained closed until around 10:30 a.m. during the accident investigation. Bicyclist Not Wearing Helmet Injured In Crash With Car In Rockland, Police Say
A bicyclist not wearing a helmet was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Rockland County, closing down a busy roadway. Police and paramedics from Ramapo responded to Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg near the intersection of Liberty Rock Road early on Thursday, Aug. 20, when a driver from Sloatsburg struck a bicyclist, police said. Tractor-Trailer Crash Knocks Out Power To Hundreds In Area
Hundreds were left without power after a tractor-trailer struck three utility poles and felled multiple power lines in Orange County, officials said. A spokesperson from Orange & Rockland Utilities said that shortly before 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, a truck driver on Long Meadow Road near Route 17A in Tuxedo took down the poles and a transformer, leaving approximately 600 area residents without power.
