Pickup Truck Driver Cited For Following Too Closely In Route 17 Crash With School Bus A 57-year-old pickup truck driver has been charged in the crash on Route 17 with a school bus that injured five students. The crash took place around 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, in Sullivan County eastbound in Mamakating between the bus and a pickup truck, said New York State Trooper Steve Nevel. The school bus was traveling from Fallsburg to Boces in Orange County with five children and two bus monitors, Nevel said.  Five children on the bus suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from Catskill Regional Medical Center. It happened around 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, in Sullivan County eastbound in Mamakating between the bus and a pickup truck, state police said. The injuries were reported as being minor. Route 17 was closed eastbound between Exits 112 and 113 in Mamakating for about two hours. The lanes reopened just before 10 a.m.

Single-Vehicle Crash Closes Major Rockland Roadway A major roadway in Rockland County is closed due to a traffic crash that also knocked down power lines. The crash took place just before 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 14, on South Little Tor Road in Clarkstown, said Clarkstown Police Officer Norman Peters. According to Peters, a car struck a utility pole and wires are down across the roadway.  South Little Tor Rd. is closed between Deerwood Drive and New Valley Road, he said. ID Released For Victim Of Fatal Route 17A Crash The person killed in a single-vehicle crash in Orange County has been identified. Tom Walter, 28, of Warwick, was killed around 9 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, on Route 17A near Durland Road, in Goshen, said Orange County Sheriff's Capt. Paul Arteta.
