Dog Rescued From Icy Pond In Northern Westchester
Volunteer firefighters in the area are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a dog that fell through the ice of a Northern Westchester pond. At around 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, when Pleasantville firefighters were notified that a dog named Miller was stuck in Opperman's Pond and unable to climb out. Moments later, firefighters were on the scene and using their boom truck, over the pond to safely rescue Miller, the fire department said. Funeral services have been scheduled for a 26-year-old firefighter from Northern Westchester who died after a fire broke out at his home on Thanksgiving morning. 26-Year-Old Firefighter Dies After Blaze Breaks Out At His Northern Westchester Home
A young firefighter died after a blaze broke out at his home in Westchester County on Thanksgiving morning. Sean Carroll was 26 years old. The fire began in the basement of the Carroll home in Thornwood in the early hours of Thursday, Nov. 25, according to authorities. "First responding fire department members were able to evacuate Teresa Carroll and Connor Carroll who were asleep during the time of the fire," said the Rye Brook Police Benevolent Association, which is hosting an online fundraiser to support the family.
