Widespread Flooding, Road Closures Reported As Potent Storm Drenches Capital Region
A potent, late autumn storm is bringing flooding and road closures to parts of the region. Flood watches or warnings are up for the entire Capital Region with rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches expected through Monday night, Dec. 18, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. Higher rainfall accumulations are expected on east and southeast-facing slopes of the eastern Catskills. Wanted Fugitive Running From Police Dies After Fall, NY State Police Say
A wanted fugitive has died after falling from a cliff during a chase, according to New York State Police. The incident unfolded Monday, Aug. 8, in Greene County as New York State Police troopers attempted to stop a pickup truck in the town of Durham. A trooper pulled the vehicle over at around 11:30 p.m. near County Route 67 and O’Hara Road after observing multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, police said. An area woman who was engaged to be married to a dump truck driver who was recently killed in a vehicle crash with a school bus has started a petition to have a stoplight installed at the intersection where the crash occurred.
