Bomb Threat At Hudson Valley High School Causes Evacuation, Police Say A Hudson Valley high school was evacuated after receiving a security threat involving explosives, police said. The incident took place in Rockland County at Suffern Senior High School in Suffern around 7 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21. According to Capt. The Rockland County incident took place on Wednesday at a home in the village of Airmont. Fiery I-87 Crash Closes Roadway, Knocks Out Power For Some Area Residents A car struck a utility pole bursting into flames in a fiery crash on a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway. It happened in Rockland County in Montebello in the area of Airmont Road at the I-87 overpass after the vehicle slammed into the pole sparking a fire, around 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, Ramapo Police said. The Tallman fire department also responded to the scene  The area had to be closed for several hours overnight, but reopened around 6:30 a.m., Monday, April 5. The crash also caused a large number of Montebello residents to lose power.

Woman Driving Drunk Crashes Into Utility Pole On Route 202 In Rockland An allegedly inebriated woman drove her vehicle into and up a utility pole off Route 202 in Rockland County, according to police. The incident happened on the evening of Monday, Aug. 17, the Suffern Police Department said. The pole was damaged in the incident.  The identity of the woman, a Maryland resident who was charged with a DWI, and the exact time of the incident were not released.  The Suffern Police Department was assisted by the Suffern and Tallman fire departments.

ID Released For Man Killed In ATV Accident A man found dead beside an ATV in Harriman State Park by a father and his children, also riding an ATV, has been identified by police. Andrew Columbia, 58, of Suffern, was found around noon on Sunday, Jan. 12, on Regis Court in Suffern, according to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police. The only access point into the woods for first responders was behind 8 Regis Court in the Village of Montebello. The blaze broke out in one townhouse at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 on Chippewa Court in the Ramapo Cirque community off Montebello and Hemion roads. Officers immediately checked if any occupants were inside and determined that the homeowner and all occupants were out of the residence, Suffern Police said.
