A return of more humid air will fuel a new round of thunderstorms after a days-long stretch of dry, comfortable weather.The timing for the storm system is from late in the afternoon into the evening on Monday, Aug. 26. It will remain precipitation free through the weekend. The mercury will get higher on Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25, with temps in the mid-80s, and mainly sunny skies both days, the National Weather Service says. Line Of Severe Storms Moving Through With Heavy Rain Causing Flooding In Parts Of Region
A line of storms is now moving across the region from west to east, producing drenching downpours that are flooding some areas. A radar image of the region above, from just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, shows severe storms marked in red. "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible the next few days as the heat and humidity linger. The high temperature on Tuesday, June 23 will be in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. There is about a 30 percent chance for showers and storms starting at around 2 p.m. and continuing through the afternoon Tuesday. The chance will be a bit higher through the evening and overnight.
