Large Brush Fire Breaks Out At State Park In Hudson Valley For two days, numerous Hudson Valley fire departments battled a stubborn brush fire atop Nordkop Mountain. The fire occurred in Rockland County on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, in Harriman State Park in Hillburn. The Hillburn Fire Department, with the assistance of several fire departments and New York State Park rangers, battled the blaze that consumed acres. Vehicle Plows Through Front Of Hudson Valley Restaurant, Police Say A Hudson Valley restaurant has a mess to clean up after a vehicle drove through the front. The crash took place in Rockland County in the village of Sloatsburg around 8 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 28 at 67 Orange Turnpike at the SushiVille restaurant. ID Released For Man Critically Injured In I-87 Crash A man critically injured during a crash with a tractor-trailer on I-87 has been identified. State Police report that Orange County resident Louis M. Lupo, 52, of New Windsor, remains in critical condition following the crash on Monday, Jan. 13. The crash took place around 7:30 a.m., in Rockland County in the village of Sloatsburg when Lupo's vehicle hit the rear of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder, said Trooper Tara McCormick, spokesperson for the New York State Police. Motorist Extricated After Route 17 Crash An injured motorist had to be extricated from his vehicle by first responders in Rockland County after crashing. First responders responded to a stretch of Route 17 underneath the New York Thruway overpass in Hillburn late in the afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 6, where there was a report of a crash, and a driver struck inside with injuries.
